Now a days, pit bulls often make headlines and its unfortunately about a good news. It isn’t about an attack on a child by pit bull or a shooting by police, it’s a about neglecting or abuse. The heat of such news reports has indeed shown as frightening image of the pit bull. It seems they have a hair-trigger temper and a lock-jawed bite by this very unfortunate image.
Dogs are not inherently aggressive, but in many cases they can suffer at the hands of irresponsible owners who encourage them, for aggression, for fighting and protection.
We think that if a pit bull is well-socialized and well-trained, then they are one of the most delightful, intelligent, and gentle dogs we can ever imagine.
Generally pit bulls are not aggressive with people. But the fact is that they are less tolerant than other dogs or than any other breeds. They also have great tenacity, which means if they put their mind to something,they do it. That’s what makes them great dogs for some sports like weight pulling. They are very strong and very athletic animal.
It has been seen that some cities and towns have banned the breed. if you raise a pit bull then you may also see the watchful eye of neighbors and passersby, which is indeed very bad.
Unfortunately Pit bulls were originally used for bull and bear-baiting, and later were bred to fight dogs in an arena. Earlier they had fabulous reputation and were considered the ideal family pet because they were so good with people and they still are. Because of the scary and strong look, they are being abandoned which is very bad.
The abuse of pit bulls drew national attention in the year 2007, when Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty to running a dog-fighting operation. He spent nearly two years in federal prison. But doesn’t seems that it actually helped people to change their perception towards pit bulls. There are many family who have pit bull as there buddies and they are indeed the happiest ones with their parents.
Pit bulls are just dogs like other breeds. The only problem is, which implies to all other breed as well is – if they are not raised properly and socialized and treated right, they can have behavior problems. But they are not any more problematic than any other breed by nature.
Breeding dogs for protection, dog fighting, social status, or financial gain. Abuse, neglect, chaining, tethering, and inadequate obedience training and supervision, these all things should be banned completely and strict action should be taken against them.
Some great qualities of pit bull is that they can tolerate huge amounts of pain. They rarely like going in the cold and rain.
